Happy Resurrection Day

Brent leading the sunrise service

Easter Sunday began with our sunrise service. Usually, we have it outside near the cross on the church grounds, but this year it was inside due to all the misty rain.
After our sunrise service, we headed down to the fellowship hall for a breakfast cooked by the men of our church.  They had eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage and more. As you can see, Bekah enjoyed a little bit of everything.

After breakfast, we had Sunday School. We combined the youngest 3 classes for a hands on Easter project. We made Resurrection rolls. My friend Anna found this project and shared it online on her blog last year. Basically, we dip a marshmallow in butter, cinnamon and sugar and wrap it completely in a crescent roll and bake. The marshmallow would be symbolic of Jesus' body and the butter and spices would have been how He would have been readied for burial at the time. The crescent roll would be like a tomb. So when these are baked, the rolls end up... Empty! Just as the tomb was on Resurrection morning!

We then had our morning worship service.
Our Family, Easter 2013

After church, we enjoyed lunch out together and then a family afternoon at home. I had placed the girls' Easter baskets on the couch but we were so busy Easter morning that they didn't find them until we got home in the afternoon.

Rachel was pretty excited and Rebekah enjoyed using her lollipops as musical instruments! Of course, today is a day to be excited and celebrate. How thankful we are that we serve a risen Savior!  We are so thankful for Jesus and that "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24

Happy Resurrection Day 2013!
" For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."   2 Corinthians 5:21
