Easter Eggstravaganza 2013

This year was our second annual FMBC Easter Egg Hunt. This year it was christened the "Easter Eggstravaganza." The girls (and their parents) had been looking forward to this for weeks. The first thing we were able to do when arriving at church was hang the new canvas of the church that Brent took in the foyer. It looks so good on the wall there!
Next we headed to the sanctuary where we were all meeting to divide into age groups to rotate through the activities before the egg hunt. We had hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones, a craft room, story room for the Resurrection story, and outside the inflatable. As you can see, Bekah found it from inside too!
We were glad to see lots of our church family and new friends come to join us for this event. Rachel even had a friend from her dance class, Jessica, who came too.

We even managed to snap a few family pictures in all the busyness!

Brent and I were in the story room most of the time. Thanks to Miss Kaitlin and Mrs. Judith's help, I did get some time to go around with the girls to their stations too. This is Rachel's group in the story room. Brent told about the Resurrection by using the Resurrection Eggs. Each egg has a symbol of what happened leading up to Jesus' death, burial and Resurrection. As you can see, this group listened very intently!

This was a first for us. Rebekah was actually old enough to be in a group herself. As I mentioned last year, she was around 6 months old and slept through at least 75% of this event. Not so, this year. She was in the 3 and under group and let me tell you, she thought she was just as big as the 3 year olds. Also, she and Rachel were in two different groups this time, since Rachel was in the Pre-K group. That made it interesting at times trying to get to both groups!

Here is Bekah in the inflatable. She finally got downstairs and got a turn here. Below she is planting her seed with Mrs.Tamara and Mrs. Kristen's help. Each child got to decorate a cup and then plant a seed. Each cup was labeled with the verse from 2 Peter 3:18. "But Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the Glory both now and forevermore."
After everyone had completed the stations, it was time for the egg hunt. We had 65 children and we hid about 1600 eggs! I think that is so awesome! This time my girls were in the same age group to hunt so I was able to be with both of them as they hunted
I think Curtis is checking to see if Rachel had any eggs already in her basket!

 Egg Hunting Fun...

Yes, she had seen the eggs at church all week and knew they were supposed to have candy inside. And yes, she did stop and crack an egg open to see if there was anything inside!

Rachel began carrying her basket in her arms at some point instead of by the handle because as she told me "Mommy, I am running out of basket"
We had a great time at the Easter Eggstravaganza. We are so thankful so many children were able to hear the Easter story and have a great time too! We are thankful for all the hard work put in by so many to make this a great time for all who attend and we are already looking forward to Easter Eggastravaganza 2014!
Most of all, we are thankful that in all the fun we have, for the reminder that we have a Savior who took our place. He took all the wrong we did and the punishment we deserve for those wrongs and gave us all the good things He is. He gives us His grace and forgiveness and peace and purpose if we will only place our trust fully in Him. He gives us the reason to celebrate Easter and we pray all our Easter celebrations will honor Him.
