Happy Resurrection Day!

On Resurrection Sunday morning, we started our day at church with the sunrise service. We sang hymns and Brent shared a short message about the hope we have in Jesus because of His resurrection.

After the sunrise service, we headed inside for a HUGE breakfast cooked by the deacons and men in our church. There was so much good food!
Bekah sat with the Doreys to eat her breakfast. It was a great time for everyone to visit together.
As soon as the breakfast finished, we began our Easter Eggstravaganza for the kids. Usually we have this event on a Saturday before Easter. This year we decided to have it on Easter Sunday morning before the worship service instead. This was so much fun!!
The kids all decorated bags to hold all their crafts and candy. Bethany decorated her bag with Miss Brooke's help.

Here are the egg hiders. We  hid around 1600 eggs!!!
In fact, the kids found so many eggs they were filling their baskets and coming and pouring them out in a pile so that they could go fill their basket some more. Here is Mrs. Stephanie standing watch over some of the kids' eggs (Rachel included) while they looked for more eggs.
And here are our little egg hunters
Bethany Joy definitely had the egg hunt idea down this year. She was good at picking them up and putting them in the basket. However, when she decided her basket was full enough, then she was done. She looked at me and held out her basket to me and said her first sentence: "Take it!"

Thanks to KayKay and Miss Brooke and all who helped our girls hunt eggs too!

After the egg hunt, it was time for crafts.

and the Resurrection story. All the girls took a turn listening to the story while the boys were working on a craft and then they switched stations.
They also made a replica of the tomb.

Then it was time for our Resurrection Sunday worship service!
Brent preached a great sermon from John 20 on Jesus's resurrection and all that it means for those who believe in Jesus.

So thankful to celebrate our Savior's resurrection with this wonderful husband that Jesus gave to me!
We rounded out our day with lunch and family time at home. We were going to hunt one more round of Easter eggs in our yard as a family, but it got pretty cold outside! The girls each get a small Easter basket from Mom and Dad.

Bethany got her first Miss Potato Head and she loves it! She calls her "Pa-te" (the almost 2 year old version of potato, I think). The big girls both got a ballerina Barbie, stickers, Peeps, pencils and colored pencils for school.
Brent got a small basket from me also. Note the practical: pens because we can't seem to ever find one when we need one here and the fun: Sundrop, one of his favorite sodas. He also got some favorite candy.
We are so thankful to serve a risen Savior who conquered death to give us life forever! What a blessing to celebrate Jesus and who He is today and everyday! Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death , even death on a cross.  For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,  so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.   Philippians 2:8-11

Looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large.  Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed.  And he said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.   Mark 16:4-6

Bekah's 4 and a half birthday

You know when you are younger, you keep track of every day you get older and look forward to the next birthday. Bekah is already excited about being 5, so she was really excited to turn 4 and a half on Thursday (it means she is getting closer to 5)! We always enjoy a special day to have fun too so we celebrated Bekah and her half birthday today. She requested cinnamon rolls for breakfast and we added a candle to celebrate.
She worked on her schoolwork in the morning with me. We are working on letter recognition and some pre-reading activities.

She was showing me some of her favorite ballet moves too.

She asked for tacos for lunch and wanted to play outside after lunch and go for a walk. It was such a beautiful day too.
Bekah, it is so fun to watch you grow! You were 4 weeks and 2 days old when we moved to the mountains and you turned 6 months old the day after we moved into our house 4 years ago this week and now you are already 4 and a half!
