Harvest Day

Salemburg Baptist Church
Rachel and Rebekah in the church nursery

Sunday, October 14, 2012 was a special day for us. Brent had been invited in the summer to come in October to speak at Salemburg Baptist Church for their Harvest Day. Harvest Day is a special day celebrated by this church each year to give thanks for all God has done and give church members past and present and their family members a chance to gather together. We were honored to be invited to be a part of this church's special day this year.
This church building and the body of believers that meet there are important to Brent and me for several reasons. Salemburg is the town I grew up in (by the way, it is between Raleigh and Wilmington if you look on an NC map) and this church is where I was a member until moving membership to Swift Creek Baptist when we began ministry there. I made my profession of faith and was baptized in this church.
Brent and I met through the youth group in this church. We also were married here on September 4, 2004!

Brent also has several ties to Salemburg Baptist. His Eagle Scout ceremony was held here. He also served as Interim Youth Pastor here. He also baptized his dad by immersion here in November 2011 and this is now the church of which his parents are members.
So as you can see, Brent and I  have had many big milestones here. It was a blessing to be involved in another special day in the life of this church. It was so sweet to see my girls playing in the same church nursery that I served as a helper in the middle school and high school. It was great to see so many special friends and church members who have loved us and prayed for us over the years. It was also special to share the day with our family who came to be a part of our time there and to hear Brent preach God's Word. It was with much thankfulness for God's guiding hand throughout the big and small details over the years of our lives, that I sat and listen to Brent preach a sermon on God's plan for the family in the same spot that we stood a little over 8 years ago to get married (yes, literally the same spot.)

Thank you to all our family including Brent's parents, brothers and their wives to came to enjoy this day with us. Thank you too to my Grams and my Papa and Nanny Joyce, who surprised me and came to worship with us.

The girls also had a great time playing with their aunts and uncles after the meal finished too. We missed Aunt Ashelyn who was on a ministry retreat, but did get to see her later that day.

We thank God for this church and the believers He has called to worship there. We are thankful for so many of the members who God used to shape who we are today through our time in this church. We feel very blessed to be invited and have been able to take part in this Harvest Day.

" O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with

                                              psalms."
