Blog Catch Up: The Week Before Christmas 2012

When you see how busy the week before Christmas this past year was, it may help to explain how easily I got behind on the blog. There were so many fun and wonderful things to do.
On December 20, Brent, Rachel and Rebekah, along with several other church members, helped deliver the Angel Tree gifts from our church to a local group home.

The next evening we had the our FMBC youth Christmas party. It began with a meal and games at church followed by a gift exchange and more games at our house.

On December 22 and 23, we were thrilled to have our friends, the Means family, visit us on their way from Pennsylvania to visit family in Virginia. Amanda and Bryan are some of our best friends and Rachel considers their children like siblings. We have missed their family since they have moved to PA and it was great to be able to spend some time with them all again and get to introduce Rebekah to their wonderful family.

Rebekah quickly made a new friend in Leah and everyone else just played together like they had just seen each other yesterday.

Even though it was freezing, we did head outside a few minutes to let them play and see the tractor too.
I don't think Amanda or I can go very long without doing a craft with our kids, so, of course, we had to do a couple of crafts while we were together. First, we painted Christmas t-shirts using our hand prints to make Christmas trees.

As you can see, the shirts turned out incredibly cute!

Next, we decorated a gingerbread house. Amanda is an awesome cake maker and decorator so our gingerbread house decorations looked very professional this year!

After all that excitement in one day, it was time for bed. We brought all the bedding up to the girls room and all the kids (except Bekah) slept in their room. Next year, hopefully when they come again, Rebekah will be old enough to join the big kids!

The next morning at church we had our Christmas musical. Everyone in our Sunday class from the Pre-K class to our Adult classes took part. It was actually written and directed by one of the families in our church, the Powells. Rachel's class were the baby animals

After church, we were able to get some lunch with the Means' before they continued on their trip. It was great to have them visit and we look forward to them visiting again!

Later that evening, we headed back to church for a
                                                      Birthday Party for Jesus

As you can see, Rebekah is developing quite the little personality!

We also made cinnamon ornaments for our trees. Everyone thought the mixture looked yummy with applesauce and cinnamon until Mrs. Judith poured in the glue to make it all stick together!
We had an incredibly busy week leading up to Christmas but so much fun throughout the week too! We are thankful for all we were able to do as we celebrated Jesus's birthday!
